After 5-year hiatus, LCD Soundsytem releases ‘depressing’ Christmas song


You may have been crushed nearly five years ago when LCD Soundsystem called it quits, but this Christmas Eve the dance-rock group has released a new song to remind us who the real heartbreaker is.

Titled “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” the self-described depressing song is a piano-led number with frontman James Murphy on vocals

The song had been rattling around for eight years in Murphy’s brain. However, he would never remember to record it until December, which would make for a tight turnaround, Murphy wrote in a note attached to the band’s tweet announcing the single. This year though, the ex-bandmates were able to come together—Tyler Pope flew in all the way from Berlin—to record the song in New York. …
