AT&T will no longer offer 2-year contracts starting Jan. 8

So long two-year contracts, nobody will miss ya!

Mashable has confirmed AT&T will completely do away with two-year contracts starting on Jan. 8. Customers looking to purchase new phones on America’s second largest wireless carrier will only be able to do so via its Next installment plan or by buying it entirely upfront.

Mashable reached out to AT&T and received the following response from a company spokesperson:

“With $0 down for well-qualified customers, the ability to upgrade early and down payment options available with even lower monthly installments, our customers are overwhelmingly choosing AT&T Next. Starting January 8, AT&T Next will be the primary way to get a new smartphone at AT&T. This does not apply to business customers under a qualified wireless service agreement.” …
