A cyberattack attributed to the Syrian Electronic Army on Thursday gained access to CNN’s twitter feed and website, posting a series of tweets and a story — all of which the network removed as fast as it could.
A series of tweets from @CNN were sent in early afternoon starting with: “Syrian Electronic Army Was here… Stop lying… All your reports are fake! via @Official_SEA16 #SEA”
Various accounts grabbed screenshots of the tweets, which appear to have been accessed via HootSuite:
An image also circulated of a fake news story from CNN.com.
