‘Go Set a Watchman’ has sold over 1 million copies in under a week


Go Set a Watchman hit bookstores (and e-readers, and audio book libraries) less than a week ago. But already, the long-awaited second novel by beloved To Kill a Mockingbird author Harper Lee has sold more than 1.1 million copies across all three formats in the United States and Canada.

Publisher HarperCollins says that the sales of the controversial followup to To Kill a Mockingbird have “far exceeded” its expectations, citing the novel as the fastest selling book in the company’s history. (The 1.1 million figure includes preorders, a representative clarified to Mashable.) Harper has “gone back to print on the title multiple times” to keep up with demand, according to a press release; more than 3.3 million copies of Watchman are currently in print. …
