Forget delivering people. The hottest taxi startups in America want to deliver food

Uber, the car service with a $40 billion valuation and an insatiable appetite for new business schemes, announced on Tuesday that it is introducing a food service in New York and Chicago that promises to deliver meals to customers in 10 minutes or less

The meal delivery option, called UberEats, isn’t exactly like Seamless, through which you order a specific meal a la carte from a menu. Instead, Uber drivers will go to certain approved restaurants, pick up several bags of a single kind of food — say a special sandwich, or a gourmet salad – and then deliver it to anyone who has requested it from an Uber app (and is hungry) …
